Your new place has an existing security system
Many times after you close on a home, you’ll notice that the previous owners didn’t take a security system. All the devices function well, are installed in the best spaces, and are ready to go. In this case, all you may have to do is to call and set up a new monitoring contract. A Vivint expert will still show up to make sure there are no integration issues, and they might offer ideas on where you should replace bad outdated components. It's a quick appointment, and you can have your alarm monitoring set up without worrying about any new alarms and cameras -- unless you add on.
The outgoing homeowners can move an existing Vivint contract to you for a small set-up cost to make the transfer a snap. If the previous owners are downsizing to a condo or smaller home, turning over the security contract may be a part of the sale.
You need to move and bring your old equipment with you
You might want to bring your old smart devices with you to a new home when you move. It should be fairly easy to accomplish, as most alarms and smart devices are plug and play. You can uninstall each component yourself or contact a professional expert to take down the system. Then a pro will hang the same devices -- and any new items you want -- in your new home. And your home security contract will keep the same.
